Bird on a Rose

The Awakening
of the
Heart

A Sufi Conference,
October 16 - 19, 2008

A nightingale falls
in love with the Rose.
The whole affair begins
with just one look
from God.

- Yunus Emre

Asilomar, which means "a Refuge by the Sea", is located on 105 acres of pine trees and sand dunes near the Pacific Ocean on the Monterey Peninsula in Pacific Grove. It is both a State Beach and Conference Grounds. The meeting rooms and accommodations are tucked in amongst the trees, and a boardwalk gives access to the beach and tide pool area.

Historic Rooms: Located in buildings that were designed by architect Julia Morgan and built between 1913 and 1928, each hotel room features hardwood floors, rustic California furnishings and private baths, and their size and quantity of beds vary from one single bed to two double beds. All of the historic lodging buildings have a common living room, with a fireplace, for lounging and reading. As of late August, all historic rooms are booked, but standard rooms are still available.

Standard Rooms: Some of the standard room types are located in buildings designed by architect John Carl Warnecke and built in a style complementary to that of Julia Morgan's. Standard rooms are more contemporary than the historic rooms and include a private bathroom and shower. Some also have a patio or balcony, and some feature a fireplace. Size and quantity of beds vary in rooms, but in most the common combinations are: two double beds; one double and one single bed; one queen and one single bed; or four single beds.

Rates per person, including Session Fee of $275. We recommend to register by August 1st, 2008 to assure housing preference. As of late August the Historic Rooms are sold-out, but ACCOMMODATION IS STILL AVAILABLE.
